CONVERT AND EXTEND DIGNALS WITHIN YOUR ETHERNET NETWORK
Basically, media converters are simple devices that are used to connect two devices or LANs that are not fully compatible, due to different speeds, types of operation, modes or types of media (twisted pair, fiber, coaxial cable). The most common use is the integration of fiber optic segments in copper networks This gives you the possibility to extend your Ethernet network beyond the limit of 100 meters imposed by the copper cable.
Media converters can be used anywhere in the network to integrate new technologies into existing equipment, to support new applications, technologies and future growth. Instead of making expensive updates, media converters can extend the productive life of existing wiring.
ADVANGAGES OF MEDIA CONVERTERS
Extend the distances of your LAN using fiber.
Ethernet connections that use copper cable are limited to the data transmission distance of 100 meters using UTP cable. By using an Ethernet to fiber conversion, fiber optic cabling allows you to extend this link over distances of up to 80km.
Maintain investments of existing equipment
Migrate a local network to fiber and at the same time protect your investment from existing copper hardware while maintaining the existing infrastructure.
Protect interference data
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) can cause corruption in data sent over copper Ethernet links. However, the data transmitted through the fiber optic cable is completely immune to this type of noise, guaranteeing optimal data transmission.
Speed conversion
Convert link speeds from 10Mbps to 100Mbps or from 100Mbps to 1000Mbps.
Reliable data transmission
Considering the fact that a media converter is essentially two transceivers that transmit data from one to another, they provide more secure access and a lower probability of connection loss.
CHARACTERISTICS OF MEDIA CONVERTERS
SIMPLE CONVERSION FROM COPPER TO FIBER
Connect 10/100/1000/10G Ethernet to fiber segments without using crossover cables
PORTS WITH AUTOMATIC DETECTION
It allows media converters to automatically recognize the current speed of the local network and adjusts with the correct parameters.
SFP PORTS
It allows you to use a small SFP transceiver, ether multimode or single mode, to link the media converter to multiple types of fiber cable.
MDI/MDI-X AUTOMATIC
Allows the device port to automatically detect the type of cable (direct or cross).
TABLE OR CHASSIS FORMAT
Desktop media converters are used to convert a copper to fiber connection, while chassis media converters can be installed in Media Converter Rack Mount Chassis with various configurations for an enterprise-type implementation.
802.3AF POE / 802.3AT POE+ COMPATIBILITY
Power through copper wiring, compatible with PoE or PoE + devices, such as access points, cameras and similar devices in areas without nearby power outlets.
MEDIA CONVERTER APPLICATIONS
Business LAN Extension
Extend the reach of the LAN beyond the 100 meter limitation of the CATx copper cable by converting the links to fiber. Fiber links allow connections over distance of up to 80km
Security and surveillance – Transmission of IP cameras
PoE simplifies the installation of IP security cameras, eliminating the need for power lines close to the installed device. PoE media converters feed these devices and transmit the signals to remote data centers of operations centers.
Company – Transmission of wireless access points
PoE media converters transmit WiFi data and feed access points.
Government and defense – Fiber to the job
With an existing data rate in the LAN backbone, with speeds of 100 Mbps or Gigabit, the fiber allows applications with a large bandwidth, such as multimedia transmission and voice over IP for safer connection at the post of work
Fiber Modes Conversion
Convert multimode fiber links to single mode and vice versa.
